I put in an EOI for a block of land early 2021 and I explained to John that I needed to sell my house to pay for block of land which was going to be ready by end of 2021. He told me not to worry we can put in the contract that I had to sell my house in Bathurst by December 31st. Moving from NSW I knew no one so he organised solicitor and it was in the contract that I had in till end of the year. I heard nothing from him at all after that. I received an email from my solicitor end of October early November asking if I still wanted the block as WIN had sent me emails and I hadn’t responded . I said yes I still want the block. Long story short the following year I found out from my builder that my builder had been receiving regular newsletters about progress of the development and I should be getting them. I contacted WIN and they realised they had been sending emails to a wrong address. They apologised stating they misread the address and would fix it. Again I heard nothing from them for a few months. I contacted them again only to get another apology to say they had been sending emails to wrong address STILL and would fix it. Then there were the phone calls that never got a return call as promised. Total incompetence and lack of communication. John Bone should have been able to see that the land wouldn’t be ready by the end of 2021 and warned me so I could reword the final contract of sale with solicitor before signing it in December. I have been paying rent for over 2 years now. Rent that I didn’t need to pay because I had a home in NSW I could have lived in. I know there are other people in the same position as me. Quarantined needlessly, missing out on over $56,000 (paid in rent) that could have gone towards building a home with some bells and whistles. I have been on the builders books since April 2021 and the price of everything has gone up by $18,000 I know this would still have happened if I stayed in NSW but I would still be ahead if I didn’t pay rent.
