I reluctantly attempted to rate the agent on the four criteria listed as these are quite subjective and I don't know enough about the selling business to judge a professional who does it for a living. All I can comment on is my rating of the two criteria that matter to me, namely the length of time it took to sell my property and the final selling price. On both of these measures, the outcomes were disappointing. Firstly, the length of time from first listing until settlement was nearly seven months in what was supposed to be a sellers market. Only two offers were received, and the first collapsed before it even made it to contract stage. Secondly, the final selling price was around $50,000 less than the initial asking price. Further, the initial asking price was less than the median price for similar properties in the same suburb so was not considered to be unrealistic. Marketing was also quite expensive which would have been fine had it translated into a satisfactory price. The selling process itself was very well managed by the agent, who kept me regularly informed with marketing reports and phone calls. He also demonstrated during our phone calls a thorough knowledge of the Gold Coast property market and its history.
