During the initial purchase everything went find, we experienced communication breakdown towards the settlement period. Initially there was a verbal request to move settlement date to one day later. As the buyer, we were willing to accommodate and agreed. One month prior to settlement date, we had contacted Reliance to confirm whether settlement will be one day later as there had been no formal request issued to our conveyancer. It was advised that Reliance will check and revert. We did not receive any confirmation so the settlement date was to remain as is. On settlement day, to our horror we had discovered that the vendor was to settle that day but vacate one day later! Reliance advice that we had agreed to this arrangement and was annoyed that we seem to have gone back on our words! The experience has left a bad aftertaste for us!
