I have been actively involved in self-managed investment properties for over 30 years including Boarding Houses and represented the Property Owners Association of NSW on a NSW Government Committee on proposed boarding house legislation in the early 2000's. Late last year I made a decision to transition to retirement which included the sale of one of my properties in Ashfield which had been owned by 3 generations of my extended family for over 80 years. I submitted 5 requests for proposals to agents in Ashfield with specific requests for detailed suggestions for marketing the property and the method of sale. Valuing the property was difficult due to the combination of 2 commercial leases and 5 residential flats in the building and the fact it had not been on the market since the 1920's. The agents were given a very short time span to submit their proposals as I wished to have the property sold prior to Xmas to catch the market peak before my expectation that the market would decline in 2018. The proposals received from all agents were comprehensive and well-documented however Tony's submission on behalf of his Agency attracted particular attention due to his suggestions and proposed marketing strategy plus his approach was one that inspired confidence due to his honesty, straight forward discussions and realistic answers to my queries.
