Disappointing Communication and Property Management Experience
My experience with the property management of this rental was disappointing, particularly when it came to communication, responsiveness, attention to detail and professionalism.
When I initially received the condition report, there were errors in the paperwork, including the previous tenant's name appearing on the report. I had to raise this issue and request corrections multiple times before I finally received the amended paperwork.
This was frustrating and did not give me confidence in the accuracy of the tenancy documentation. After receiving the keys and before moving in, I contacted the agency to ask whether the carpets had been steam cleaned.
I was advised that the property manager would get back to me regarding this, however, I never received a response or any follow-up.
This left me uncertain about the property's condition and required me to spend my own time and effort cleaning upon move-in.
When I received the keys, the overall cleanliness of the property was unacceptable. The kitchen had not been properly cleaned, particularly the oven, which required significant attention.
The windows were also visibly dirty and covered in dust and dirt.
The carpets had not been steam cleaned, despite me specifically asking about this beforehand.
When a tenant raises questions or concerns before moving into a property, particularly regarding cleanliness, documentation or potential health and safety issues, those concerns should be addressed promptly and professionally. I expect the property to be properly cleaned and prepared before the keys were handed over as well as the condition report to be accurate and communication to be reliable.
Overall, my experience could have been significantly better with stronger communication, better follow-through, greater attention to detail and a higher standard of property preparation before the commencement of my lease.
