About Karl

Having a vast amount of knowledge in the finance and property arena, gives Karl an enormous advantage to all his clients. His background consists of 8 years of sales and 8 years within the finance industry, with a strong focus on property. Including seminar participation & educating investors on different investment strategies including positive and negative gearing. His passion is ‘putting the right people in the right property’ whether it is for their personal reasons or an excellent investment opportunity. Karl has formal qualifications in Sales & Marketing & Property Services, which gives him a tremendous edge over any of his competing agents. Unlike a property agent who is a 'part-timer', Karl has made a career from helping his clients buy &/or sell property in Adelaide.

About Celeste

Celeste was born in Victor Harbor but spent most of her young adult life in Townsville North Queensland where she worked as a PA in a Real Estate Company in the City. Upon her return to Adelaide she worked as an Office Manager for a local wholesale distribution company until starting her young family. She has always had a sincere love of property and really enjoyed her time working as a PA in Queensland, which has driven her to join Karl in the launch of 1840 Real Estate. Celeste is a fully qualified Real Estate Sales professional and also manages the Property Management division. Celeste prides herself on an extremely high level of customer service, it’s what sets her apart, being highly recognised for this throughout her career, Celeste understands that service levels are paramount in a successful business. Celeste has a ‘can do’ attitude with mindset to exceed the client’s expectations.

About us

1840 Real Estate is Adelaide’s latest boutique agency specialising in Residential Property. Founder and Director Karl Niehus’ family arrived in Adelaide in 1840, Karl was born at the (formerly) Queen Victoria Hospital on Fullarton Road, Rose Park. Having grown up in Adelaide, he has watched the city expand significantly over the years. He began working in sales over 16 years ago, and about 4 years ago he decided to put his extensive experience to use in the Real Estate industry with much success. During this time, he has sold millions of dollars worth of Real Estate hitting record price, after record price in Marden and other suburbs around Adelaide. The time came to go out on his own with the goal of providing a personally specialised service for each client, something he was unable to offer while under a corporate banner. 1840 Real Estate is a family owned and operated business, ensuring we remain highly motivated by customer satisfaction. Each member of our team specialises in their area of expertise allowing 1840 to offer a full range of services (Sales and Property Management) we also work closely with our Mortgage Advisor, New House Home Loans who have been established for over 9 years (Finance Brokers with access to 30+ banking institutions).

To the entire team at 1840 Realestate in particular KARL & CELESTE, we want to say a massive thank you for all your blood sweat & tears to do with a purchase of a property & finding a tenant for us. We asked for your opinions/thoughts & knowledge on numerous occasions whilst we were only looking, you returned all of our texts, emails and calls even on a Sunday wow! Excellent people to work with.

Celeste and Karl are absolutely fantastic real estate agents! One of the things I loved most was that 1840 Real Estate is a smaller company, which means their service feels incredibly personal, attentive, and truly genuine. They went above-and-beyond in finding the right tenant for my property, and their care and communication were outstanding. After dealing with larger real estate companies in the past — where it often felt like they were focused on themselves rather than working with me — this experience was a breath of fresh air. I can’t recommend 1840 Real Estate highly enough. They’re exceptional!

I am very happy with their knowledge about the market as I receive update frequently via email from them. Very helpful with my inquires easy to contact them via phone or email always available someone even on the weekends.Any new legislation regarding Landlord or tenant sent to me to be aware for any changes. Always polite and kind excellent people skills.

Stress and hassle free experience.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The team was professional, proactive, and got my house tenanted incredibly quickly. The house was filled quicker than expected which helped alleviate any stress we had in a busy period for us and everything was handled smoothly. Highly recommend

Above & Beyond

The team at 1840 Real Estate are responsive, professional and have been supremely helpful during some challenging times. Karl consistently provides thoughtful advice based on clearly deep knowledge of the Adelaide market conditions and is a thorough professional. He is able to draw on a deeper level of experience than many agents and is pragmatic in his approach to challenges. Best decision I made was to engage 1840 RE.
