We bought and sold our properties from Thom--with about 14 years in between. As a buyer, I remember his warmth, confidence and humour. We spoke to several agents when we were finally ready to move. Some pressured us to make extensive renovations that we didn't think were advisable in the current market. Thom was different; he listened to us, understood our situation and was very clear about what we needed to do to achieve the best price in a very fickle Canberra market. He never over-promised and under-delivered. With his advice based on his research, we made some strategic investments that really brought out the house's potential. As we now live interstate, Thom managed the entire process excellently. The tradies he recommended did a great job at very fair prices. He communicated with us constantly. We never wondered what was happening at any point in the process. Ultimately, I'd like to say that the house sold itself. But, given that I've been on the Buyer end of Thom's transactions, I'm very sure it was (again) his kindness and confidence that encouraged the buyers to make their very best offer. Thom and another agent were recommended to me, and I ultimately chose Thom because his knowledge and experience exceeded the other. I had a few hiccups along the way, as I was living in Qld. I had planned to do some landscaping and painting myself, but due to a cyclone, I wasn't able to get there. Thom stepped in and got contractors to do the work at very reasonable prices. I also had other challenges with a difficult neighbour. Throughout the whole process, Thom was in constant communication by text, email and phone calls. He even mowed the lawns himself before an open home. He ultimately sold my house at the high end of the price guide before going to auction, and we exchanged the same day as the offer came through. I found Thom to be honest and direct and can't recommend him highly enough.
