Simon made my elderly parents feel excited about selling their home they had loved for 27 years. He treated them with respect and never rushed the conversations. He expressed the good aspects of the house before the negatives. Simon understood how hard a move can be for seniors moving to a retirement village, but was calming and kind. Simon has sold two houses for me, the first time another agent talked me into using them instead of Simon however come auction day I was unable to get a single bid, the other agent blamed me, and said I wanted too much and it could not be done, so I signed with Simon and within 2 days the place was sold for the full price I wanted. I recently used Simon to sell my next home and as usual i was given great advice and sold at the price we wanted. Simon knows the market, knows what makes houses sell. Simon spends the time to give you little pointers so you can make small changes which appeal to local buyers, all you need to do is follow his advice. On top of this, he's always responsive, professional and happy which is always a plus.

We canvassed a few local agents when we sold our double storey terrace in Clifton Hill last year. All went hard on the value of the model their particular agency runs ("we have the most contacts"). With fees mostly the same, Simon slightly better, it came down to who we felt was going to fight our corner the hardest. For that reason we chose Simon Shrimpton. Ive got a strong feeling real estate is this guy's sole reasons for being as he was super hands on. Simon was available all hours to help us along the way and ran a relentless campaign with about 8 openings in 10 days given problematic covid lockdowns. We almost laughed at the overly dramatic video he had made for the property but it was actually amazing with the clients and served the campaign really well. We ended up running a virtual auction but with our place looking good thanks to the interior design he recommended, the extended 10min video he made available online, the dramatic 30sec teaser and all the hustle he brought over the weeks leading up to auction day we felt pretty good about it all. The auction ended up going bananas and Simon managed it well. Obviously a lot is in the hands of the bidders but it was clear that a good auctioneer can make a real difference; a spiel that was fit for purpose but not too long, knowing when to go hard, pause, when to encourage and then a solid close....he did well. We were very happy with the result and Simon got his fee, but given all that, a stressful process was made better thanks to Simon's committment and competence. Net net of everything, If I had to sell our house again () I would go with Simon.

We decided to sell our home and the auction was while we were interstate. Simon provided us with timely updates over the Campaign that eased our concerns. The auction day was let down by the final bidders procrastination and late withdrawal. Despite this Simon pursued other interested parties and achieved a selling price we didn’t think was likely within 48 hours of the auction. Simon achieved a sale and a great price for us. We had a number of delays in preparing the property for sale post lockdown. Simon was able to be flexible as the market was changing quite quickly week-to-week. Simon is an amazing source of knowledge and experience of the property market in the inner northern suburbs. Having kept in touch with Simon for twenty years after he solid me my first home, I knew should the time come to sell that he would be the best positioned agent to take on the role. I think one of the keys to Simon’s approach is his ability to collaborate with his colleagues in forming a view about pricing, styling, and formulating a campaign. So, I felt I benefited from Simon’s experience and that of his colleagues. He was also able to integrate several of my own ideas into the styling of the property while guiding me away from any mistakes. The reason for calling out Simon’s capacity to advise and advocate as a professional on my behalf is that these competencies do not appear to be common in the real estate profession. I was keen to work with someone that I could trust to provide me with professional advice on price, promotion, styling, and the difficulty of sustaining and adapting a sales campaign during Melbourne’s 2021 Covid restrictions and lock-downs. Simon went the extra mile and worked hard on my behalf even though my property was not at the top-end of the market – small things like fitting in ad hoc inspections and following up interested buyers made a big difference. Now that I’m in the market as a buyer I can see these things are not always done and done well. It’s probably true that anyone could get a good result in a perfect sellers’ market, but with so much uncertainty around you need to be working with an agent that can read the play and adjust their approach accordingly. Simon’s ability to read the market and adapt quickly to rapidly evolving circumstances is one of the main reasons I would recommend him to other sellers.

Simon is the master of follow up. He kept in touch in an easy going and informative way for 5 years so of course we were going to go with Simon when it came time to sell.
