Laurie Kelly is truly the City of Belmont's pioneer real estate agent, commencing business in the area in 1969, before the existence of Belmont Forum Shopping Centre and Belmont Tavern, the land on which stood a dairy farm and wood yard respectively. Working for "General Agency" as a Sales Representative, most of Laurie's sales were comprised of quarter acre land parcels due to the large-scale subdivision stage within Belmont and surrounds at the time. Laurie enjoyed selling the “Australian Dream” of home ownership to Buyers.
In 1971 upon the Belmont Forum Shopping Centre's opening, Laurie commenced his own namesake business and was subsequently one of the Forum's original occupants with the opening of the agency's first office where Bankwest now stands. Equipped with just a Receptionist and Laurie, the business steadily grew over the years to a Sales Team of 10 and a Property Management Department of 5.
Over the years Belmont's first real estate agency has evolved into the area's most established agency, a multi-generational family business with flagship office located directly across from the Belmont Forum at 197 Wright Street Belmont. in 2023 Laurie's eldest son and multi-award winning Sales Representative Devon Kelly became Director and Licencee for Laurie Kelly Real Estate, an industry veteran with the entirety of his 30 year career serving the local area working alongside his father in the business.
Well known among locals and a recognisable figure within the City of Belmont, Devon is aptly referred to as "Mr Belmont" by many and can be spotted at the Forum most days grabbing lunch or some shopping.
