Worst business I’ve dealt with in 20 years of living in Mackay

Avoid avoid avoid My Challenging Experience with Mackay Real Estate Having lived in Mackay for two decades, I recently encountered the most frustrating experience with a local real estate agency. Here are the key issues I faced: Disorganization: The agency lacked organization, making the entire process cumbersome. They constantly requested additional work from me, which was both unexpected and unnecessary. Misleading Entry Report: Upon moving into our new house, we discovered it was far from the pristine condition described in their entry report. Dirt, dust, spiders, cobwebs, cockroaches, and wasp nests were rampant. Maintenance Neglect: The agency refused to address any repairs or maintenance issues. We had to escalate matters with the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) to get any action. Security Lapses: After an inspection, they left our house unlocked. This negligence was concerning and unacceptable. Unreasonable Rent Increase: Despite our loyalty, they raised our rent significantly after just 12 months. Negotiations were futile. Poor Communication: When dealing with other real estate agents for tenancy referrals, they were unresponsive and uncooperative. Relief from Their Services: Ultimately, we found another place at a lower cost and were relieved to leave their services behind. A Word of Caution: If you ever deal with this agency, refrain from posting an immediate Google review. Take time to observe their business practices; your perspective may change significantly. Our role is to act on behalf of the landlord, and while we strive to provide excellent service, maintenance decisions ultimately rest with them. We always advocate for the best outcomes for everyone involved. For the routine inspection and door locking, we reviewed body-worn camera footage, which shows the door being locked upon departure, with the sound of the lock engaging recorded. Regarding the rent increase, this decision is made by the property owner and often reflects market conditions in high-demand areas like Mackay. While we value tenant loyalty, rental adjustments are sometimes necessary. After your vacate, the property was re-leased at a higher rate in line with market trends.
