Our experience with Alex Day during the purchase of our property was extremely disappointing. Communication, follow-through and accountability fell well short of expectations. Before purchasing, we understood the tenants were open to moving out early, relocation assistance had been discussed, and a proposed move-out date was being worked towards. We arranged our move around this date and requested that it be included in the contract. Alex later texted my husband that, despite being confident the tenant would leave early, this understanding would not be included in the contract. The tenancy agreement was another concern. We were told it should have been included in the contract and that our conveyancer should have seen it, yet it was absent from the contract documents we reviewed. A few days before settlement, while I was trying to contact Alex for confirmation of the tenant’s agreed move-out date, he asked which conveyancer we used. When I told him, he blamed them for not identifying the tenancy agreement and made a disparaging comment suggesting they could only handle straightforward contracts. I found this unprofessional and unhelpful. I needed answers, not criticism of our conveyancer. At the pre-settlement inspection, we raised several issues but were told the items were “as is”. We expected clearer communication about our concerns and the way forward. Throughout the process, we often felt Alex passed responsibility to others rather than taking ownership of providing clear answers. We understand agents cannot control every outcome, but communication and accountability matter during a major property purchase. Other Ray White team members genuinely tried to help, and our criticism is specifically about Alex. We would not use him again or recommend him to other buyers.
