Everything was fine until the day of the entry check. We tried to handle the repairs and maintenance ourselves to save costs, but we couldn’t finish until the day before the lease started. The property manager (PM) called us early in the morning to say she was at the property for the entry check and requested that all of my husband’s belongings (tools and equipment) be removed. We were okay with this, but if she had informed us earlier, we would have sped up our efforts to clear everything out beforehand. She mentioned she couldn’t do the check in that morning and would return in the afternoon. I told her I would let her know once everything was clear. Around 10 AM, while I was busy at work, I messaged her that everything was cleared and she could go anytime, although my husband would still be there for a little while to mow the lawn. My husband finished the work, picked up our kids from school, and returned to the property at 4 PM to retrieve a broom and a pack of wipes as he left there in case later that day he could go and do a final tidy up, coinciding with the PM’s arrival. Then, I received a message from the PM expressing frustration that there were still cleaning items left after I had said everything was cleared. She was unhappy, which frustrated us as well, since only one or two items were left, which we didn’t think was a big deal. We understand she has a job to do and we respect that, but her communication with us felt very disrespectful. As property owners, we feel that if such small issues frustrate her, she may not be suited to manage our property.
