Our property was "cursed" inasmuch as it was a "truly unique" proposition.
In other words, it lacked comparable sales data, to the point that, for some agents, it was impossible to price. We had had more than one agent tell us that we'd get no more than around $3.5 million...as nothing had ever sold in our area with a 4 in front of the number - but then again, nothing compares with truly unique.
Marty took a different view. He saw advantage in uniqueness. He believed in us and rose to the challenge "someone has to be first through 4, why can't it be us?"
Anyway, we got our 4. Throughout the process, Marty was superb in the way he simultaneously encouraged us whilst keeping us on a level emotional keel. This was perhaps the most significant outcome of our relationship, as selling a house is probably one of life's more stressful experiences.
