Our unit in Dee Why became vacant and we relied on our agent to be efficient as usual. As we live in Queensland, we took the advice of the agent regarding listing the property with an increase in the price of $15 per week. We were not able to find an interested tenant at the new price so in hindsight we should not have raised the price. Once we took the price back down to the previous amount we found a tenant straight away. The unit was vacant for a period longer than necessary because of this price increase as recommended by the agent. We were losing $500 per week and we feel that the agent should have known that prices are not increasing as before due to factors affecting the Sydney market.
