I have owned my Dysart property since 2016 and originally used the agent that sold me the property to manage it for me. This turned out to be a disaster as they were based in Mackay and didn’t really know what was going on with the tenants at any given time. On one occasion their property manager put a personal friend in my house because she was experiencing domestic issues and when she didn’t pay any rent for several months I suggested that she may have abandoned the house. I was told that she couldn’t have abandoned my house as it was still furnished. She was mistaken and because of her delay I had no claim on the bond which was released back to the tenant who was now in hiding. During cyclone Debbie, the house sustained some significant damage and this matter was poorly handled, requiring me to sort it out with my insurance company myself. I am a retired Real Estate Agent myself and currently live in Tasmania so COMMUNICATION with an agent that knows what’s happening with my house and the area is paramount to me.
