I have witnessed both sides of Mark Foy. Once as a buyer (he was the agent of a property I purchased in (2014), and again as a vendor when he was the agent for the same property, four year later. When I was the buyer, Mark secured a sale for the vendor that set a record for that sized apartment in the complex I purchased into. Four years later, Mark secured a sale for me at a good price in a spooked market and with auction clearance rates falling to 52%. It wasn't an easy sale, he was tested by tricky buyers and he came through with a price resulting in a 44% capital gain for me as the vendor. A good result. After he ran a strong marketing campaign, he advised we should cancel the auction due to not securing commited buyers and instead advised we should put a price on the apartment and list it for sale. Within a week he had secured a good buyer and the sale. Where Mark truly shined brightest was in negotiating the final price. I rejected the buyers offer (our only buyer), and the buyer indicated he wouldn't raise his offer. In a bold move, Mark called his bluff. He truly understood the buyer and sensed he was keen. I was worried and was reconsidering that I may have to accept a lower price when Mark called me back to inform me that he had managed to get an additional 66k from the buyer, and in the process secured an immediate sale. The extra 66k effectively paid for the commission on the sale price of 2.66m. I felt that Mark and his team were, above all, honest with me. Agents have a difficult task to keep both buyers and sellers interested and engaged, and Mark and his team did a great job of this. I have always found some agents can come off as dishonest or manipulative. Mark was not like this at all.
