Andrew Liddell did a terrific job selling my house quickly and confidently, and off-market. He was unfailingly courteous and supportive. However, in two key areas I was very disappointed by his agency, Bresic Whitney. First, they sent out a letter immediately after the house exchanged announcing the price achieved. This benefitted them, not me. I wanted an off-market sale to retain some privacy. Instead, it was the subject of immediate local gossip. The second problem came at settlement when the buyer refused to settle because he (or his partner?) complained that bedroom curtains hadn't been replaced with blinds. This was DESPITE the fact that, as it was in the original contract, I had checked twice in writing with Andrew's assistant, plus had given the buyer an expensive fridge, an outdoor day-bed, a large shade umbrella all entirely free, as well as leaving the house spotless with flowers to welcome, every trade up to date, etc etc. I loved my house and wanted it to shine. And so it did. This demand made leaving my home of two decades even harder than it already was. The irony was that the actual buyer (and his thoughtful Mum) had done the pre-settlement inspection while we were still there. They had praised the house and raised none of this with me, nor with Andrew's assistant who was there at the time. Following this demand just minutes before settlement, Andrew tried to mediate and did take responsibility for this misunderstanding on his assistant's part, but the bullying I received that day from the buyer was a worse blow than the amount I felt coerced to pay just to get the settlement completed. I know that Andrew was genuinely disappointed things did not go well at that final moment, yet I was still required to make a financial concession and experience much stress and distress that could have been entirely avoided with clearer communication between the agency and buyer. And by taking complete responsibility for sorting it out.
