A few months ago I decided to sell the house belonging to me and my wife, Margaret, now in a nursing home. For 2 years I had occupied it alone. We were paying a lot for Margaret’s care so I wanted top price. The first thing I needed was a good Real Estate Agent. I knew three or four of them, none of them ideal. A new man suddenly appeared on my door- step, clutching a bunch of statements listing the houses he had recently sold successfully. Here was a young, good looking, impeccably dressed man with attractive Italian manners. I was immediately struck by him and thought that he would be likely to impress potential buyers. I said, come right in. It was Rick D’Amico from Forsyth Realty. We discussed the possible sale price and agreed on a figure to work towards. We decided on an auction. I was ignorant. He explained a lot. I was reluctant to spend on sprucing the place up with paint etc, but as the inspections approached Rick persuaded me to get in cleaners for inside and outside. This was wise. The house inspections proceeded (with me absent.) The viewers weren’t rushing to buy the first Chatswood house they saw. They said, “It is old. It hasn’t been painted for 30 years, the carpet is dated”, and so on. They argued for a lower price. Rick decided to seek a pre-auction bid. He had a couple of seemingly very interested parties, and worked tirelessly, showing them through repeatedly. Eventually, before the auction, a party agreed to sign up, and the agreed price was pleasing. I was very impressed with the way Rick had handled the sale. I would strongly recommend Rick to anyone wanting to sell their house. He is persuasive without being pushy. He is an excellent agent.
