Ensure all communication with regards to details about the house or property (eg when asking about specifics or issues) or components of the contract is in writing. Know your rights as a buyer and your contract. Stick to your guns and have a solid solicitor who is ready to fight for you! Can’t wait for QLD to bring in stronger seller disclosure laws. Aside from a very rocky contract to sale period, there were a lot of issues we were not truthfully told about, even when asked. If you’re buying an older property you may need more than a standard building and pest to pick up nasty hiddens. Once we went to contract, it got ugly- Tamara phoned our solicitor to tell them we had cancelled the contract which was not true. They had better offers and were trying to get out of it. A few other sly tactics along the way to try and void the contract. But don’t worry, you’ll still get some chocolates and champagne…
