Whilst my unit was sold, I was disappointed overall
Whilst Matt and his team were professional in managing the sales process (i.e. carrying out open homes and liaising with potential buyers), I was disappointed with several aspects of Elders' service.
The main reasons for my disappointment were:
- I did not receive the estimated price quoted by Matt's team prior to the first open home. This was particularly disappointing because the main reason I signed up with Elders is that Matt convinced me that he was the best agent in the area and could get me the highest sales price - in hindsight, I think that all agents would have all gotten me the same price.
- Matt advised that he would be intimately involved through the entire sale process but went to Bali for two weeks the day after I signed the contract to have him as my agent (I would have preferred if this was disclosed prior to my signing)
- Other agents in the area (Century21, PropertyPlus) would have cost less overall and in my interactions with them, I felt that they were more genuine and provided a greater level of care (Matt gave me the impression of being a shrewd and cunning businessman and I didn't particularly enjoy interacting with him)
- Closer to the end of the sales process, I got the impression that Matt was more interested in settling the property and obtaining his sales commission rather than genuinely listening to and addressing my needs.
Overall, I would not recommend Elders and would not use their service in future for the reasons above.
