•Reflecting on this incredibly frustrating experience, I'm filled with anger and dismay. As ordinary buyers, we put in significant effort and resources to buy a house, only to face a shocking situation at settlement. On the day we were supposed to get the keys to our new home, we learned that the previous homeowner still had a set. This shows unbelievable irresponsibility and unprofessionalism. We fully paid for the house, expecting a smooth transition, but the agent proceeded without all the keys and let the former homeowner leave, showing a clear disregard for our interests. The state of the house was appalling. The front yard was littered with rubbish, and the inside was worse, with trash everywhere, water and garbage in the laundry room, refuse in the bedroom cabinets, and half-eaten food in the kitchen. It was a complete mess, totally opposite to the home we anticipated. The agency had a duty to ensure we received all keys and that the property was clean. They failed miserably. Trying to reach the selling agent proved futile, with only a meaningless apology from the agency's front desk. I regret ever dealing with this agency and would strongly advise others to avoid them. This experience is not just infuriating but a reminder to always protect our rights against such unacceptable behavior.
On the day of settlement, it came to my attention that the previous homeowner failed to provide all the keys and left an excessive amount of garbage in the house. While I acknowledge that the contract allows for certain imperfections, it is disappointing that the property was not presented in a reasonably clean state, considering the key exchange is a pivotal aspect of the settlement process. What is particularly disheartening is the lack of involvement and assistance provided by you, as our agent, in ensuring the property was handed over appropriately. Rather than facilitating communication between the buyer and seller to address these issues promptly, you advocated for our acceptance of an incomplete and substandard handover, suggesting that the previous owner could rectify the situation the following day. The absence of consultation with us, the buyers, on this matter, is concerning. A transaction of this nature involves significant financial and emotional investment, and it is reasonable to expect a higher level of service in navigating challenges such as those we encountered on the settlement day. I believe that as the agent, your role extends beyond merely acting as a liaison between the buyer and seller. It encompasses ensuring a fair and satisfactory transaction for both parties. In this instance, it appears that the balance was skewed in favor of the seller, with little consideration given to the buyer's concerns and rights.
This was an incredibly frustrating experience. We, as buyers, expected a smooth property handover, but it turned into a nightmare. On settlement day, we were shocked to find out that the previous homeowner still had one set of keys. The agent proceeded with the handover without all the keys, prioritizing the seller's interests over ours. When we entered the house, it was in a deplorable state - the front yard was littered with rubbish, the interior was a mess with trash everywhere, and various rooms were filled with refuse. The laundry room was flooded, bedroom cabinets were overflowing with garbage, and the kitchen contained half-eaten food. This was a stark contrast to our excitement about our new home. The agency failed in its responsibility to ensure a smooth handover and a clean property. Despite our efforts to contact the agent, she remained unreachable, and the agency's front desk offered only a shallow apology. I strongly advise avoiding this agency. This experience is a glaring example of unprofessionalism and indifference towards buyers. It's a reminder to protect our rights and avoid such absurd behavior.
