Ian grew up in Malvern, attended Malvern Grammar (Later Caulfield) and qualified as a Civil Engineer working at Con Zinc Rio Tinto as a Project Engineer.
In later years, he changed careers and became director of one of the top performing Real Estate Stockdale and Leggo offices at Glen Waverley for fifteen years. His family then moved closer in where he joined Ross Hunt as Sales Manager and has remained there mentoring staff and maintaining “hands on managerial work”.
He has conducted hundreds of Auctions all over Melbourne and in regional areas where people have sought his expertise and is highly respected amongst his colleagues in the industry.
The tightly knit group of professionals working with him are all tertiary qualified, highly experienced and have been with him for the entire period where his philosophy is: “Fairness and honesty combine to achieve top level service”.
Ian is married to an Agricultural Scientist, Lyn (a regular U3A attendee!), is an avid reader and relaxes with French recipes in the kitchen. He also has a wide range of sporting interests including surfing at his childhood club at Anglesea, ocean swim racing, skiing, golf and sailing and is an active member on the board of the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre involved in community activities.
He has two daughters, both professional, and says “what’s the point of retiring if you keep fit, enjoy what you are doing and people trust you''.
