The initial market appraisal was wrong and we ended up selling the property for much less than what we've been advised to and appraised by the agent. Beware of all the hidden cost such as unprecedented invoices! My experience from using Harcourts for rental and selling wasn't a really pleasant experience and caused us a lot of grief and we ended up managing the whole thing ourselves and Harcourts only was paid the commission for not doing a thing. The downside to this whole selling experience was that I had to think of strategies to sell my house instead of being comfortable from being in good hands of the agent. We made a mistake and we trusted the judgement and actions of the agent. I as the buyer expected to be looked after by my agent but sadly this didn't happen. The only strategy that my agent used was to ask me to lower the price (because my neighbour has dropped the price by this much which is funny as I believe this a real estate game) so that she can sell it easier and find a buyer and this happened a couple of times as we were desperate to sell.
